Ted Lieu @tedlieu 23m23 minutes agoI endorse @KamalaHarris for President.
Known Kamala for many years & worked together on various issues. She embraces the future, not the past, and is the person we need to move America forward.
Watch the #HarrisTownHall tonight at 7 pm PT / 10 pm ET to learn more about Kamala.

(428 posts)Just let the Democratic voters decide and leave it at that.
I'm not saying they shouldn't have their favorites, but just keep it to yourselves, let the primary voters decide and then come out enthusiastically for the duly elected nominee. Otherwise it seems disingenuous then to be fully enthusiastic about the eventual nominee if it's not your previously endorsed candidate.

(86,005 posts)...candidates will need these state and local folks who can organize and direct efforts in their states.
The ground game is everything.

(428 posts)...will be done by those same people for whoever the nominee is.
Elected Dems should not be using their resources to boost one candidate over another in the primary. That tips the field and the contest in favor of the well connected rather than the best candidate.

It's not something I'm in favor of trying to limit or revoke. Remember, these elected officials are still accountable to voters. If they object, they can register that with their votes.

(428 posts)...or that they can't do it. I just personally don't like it.

(86,005 posts)...I editorialized there.
Was trying to say that it won't stop, other pols will always network, and it would be to the disadvantage of those who aren't supported by state and local legislatures.
I don't think this is a bad thing, pols participating in the political process of elections.

(90,769 posts)Ted Lieu is a fellow Californian, also from an immigrant family, also a POC with Asian roots, and he knows her personally from having worked together over the years.
It's called an "endorsement," and he is free to give it at any time he wants. If she withdraws, he will endorse someone else.
Meanwhile, his endorsement means something to those of us who have been following his career as well as hers. They are both excellent public servants, doompatrol39, and as a Californian myself, I endorse both of them.

(1,483 posts)This isn't the age of quadrilles and three year engagements and sending messages through the hidden messages of flower arrangements.
This is the grinding machine of a 24hr news cycle.
Kamala Harris can run the table.
I will stand behind her with my time and my money starting now.
doompatrol39
(428 posts)...get out there too early and that news cycle switches to the next shiny object. May be good for a quick and early infusion of cash, but unless that news cycle can be maintained, it will fade soon enough.
