Santorum = 'Man on Dog' because he attempted in an interview several years ago to compare homosexuality to bestiality (in opposing marriage rights for gays and lesbians) and used that phrase.
"Santorum's problem got its start back in 2003, when the then-senator from Pennsylvania compared homosexuality to bestiality and pedophilia, saying the "definition of marriage" has never included "man on child, man on dog, or whatever the case may be."

Romney = 'Dog on Car' because he strapped his family dog Seamus to the top of his car for a 12-hour car trip. Dog was in a pet carrier, but still. When asked, Romney dismissed it by saying that his dog 'likes fresh air.' May have violated animal cruelty laws.
"The incident: dog excrement found on the roof and windows of the Romney station wagon. How it got there: Romney strapped a dog carrier — with the family dog Seamus, an Irish Setter, in it — to the roof of the family station wagon for a twelve hour drive from Boston to Ontario, which the family apparently completed, despite Seamus's rather visceral protest."
