Anyone who does not have a place to stay after 9 p.m. each night will be taken to a shelter.

Also, don’t forget that ALL @Chicago_Police Stations are warming centers, open to anyone in need of a warm place to get out from the cold. Contact 311 for assistance finding a warming center or to arrange a well being check. Dial 911 for emergencies.

I hope the information also gets out to those who have no internet access.

I'm here in Chicago (and grateful that my cats and I have a safe, warm home) and I'm just dreading the cold for all the homeless animals out there who, obviously, have no access to warming centers. I'll leave some dry cat food out, but I rent and have no place to really set up a warm place for them and I feel just TERRIBLE for all those poor creatures who are going to suffer the next few days.

I really hate this crap.

If anyone takes the notion, there are lots of instructions on the internet how to make cat and other small animal shelters:

https://www.catster.com/lifestyle/feral-cat-health-shelter-cats-how-to-build-diy

I've made them out of rubbermaid or other cheapo plastic tub with a hole cut in, those foil 'blankets' that keep in warmth, styrofoam and/or straw. At least it keeps the little bubbies out of the wind and rain.
