Tulsi Gabbard Loses Campaign Manager, Consultants Weeks After Announcing 2020 Bid

Tulsi Gabbard Loses Campaign Manager, Consultants Weeks After Announcing 2020 Bid
Bryan Snyder/Reuters

Democratic lawmaker Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) has been abandoned by her campaign manager and consulting firm just two and a half weeks after declaring her presidential bid, Politico reports. Two sources told Politico that campaign manager Rania Batrice and the consulting firm Revolution Messaging will reportedly leave after the campaign officially kicks off this weekend. “Rania Batrice is a long-time advisor and friend and remains so,” a Gabbard spokesperson was quoted as saying. Batrice also spoke warmly of Gabbard, noting that “it’s been an honor to work with her over the last few years,” and “I wish her all the best as she mounts her historic campaign.” The reported departures come weeks after a tumultuous campaign announcement, in which staffers reportedly worked through the holidays to prepare for an announcement that didn’t materialize, and were later caught off guard when Gabbard declared her bid on CNN’s The Van Jones Show. Politico notes that Gabbard also failed to visit key 2020 states after announcing her candidacy, and hadn’t even signed off on a campaign video before throwing her hat in the ring. Things apparently don’t look good for Gabbard on the home front, either: The congresswoman is facing backlash for sparring with Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI), and risks being primaried in her congressional district.

I also like all the other Democratic candidates so far (and some who have not yet announced).

Plenty of great options.

The key is to make sure we get a Democrat in the White House in 2020.

A start like this will bury her.

It is a poor reflection on her planning, decision making, discipline and leadership.

Wanna see how it is done really well? look at Kamala Harris who secured her place at or near the top of the polls with how she rolled out her campaign. That was no accident. Good vision, strategy and planning. Great timing, media exposure and execution. Thought out marketing and message/speech. Great candidate discipline and delivery. They're probably still counting all the money that flowed into her campaign.

Meanwhile, Gabbard's campaign will hyperventilate on a shoestring budget and a rudderless direction ..

Gabbard attacked Sen Mazie Hirono.. and she is going to be challenged in our District.

she refused to support the Hawaii marriage equality bill. As recently as 2005, she referred to "homosexual extremists." (She's recently apologized for her previous actions, on the grounds that she has learned in the service that she shouldn't impose her religious beliefs on others -- but that hasn't satisfied many progressives.)

She fiercely criticized Obama for not using the term "radical Islamic terrorist" to describe members of ISIS. (Obama didn't want to disparage all Muslims for the actions of a few.)

She traveled to Syria and met with the dictator Assad for private talks without informing House leadership.

Shortly after the 2016 election, she went to Trump Tower to have a chat with Trump.

People like Steve Bannon speak very highly of her.

She grew up in and is still associated with the cult called the Science of Identity Foundation, led by guru Chris Butler, which is highly secretive and tends to sue news organizations that attempt to investigate it.

Yes, though people like Steve Bannon have expressed their enthusiasm about her, she identifies as a Democrat. (The kind who as recently as 2013 refused to support marriage equality in Hawaii; and who within days of the 2016 election went up to the Trump Tower for a private chat with Trump.)
