I continue to vacillate between optimism - that sanity will prevail, and pessimism - that we're too far gone.
The polls seem to suggest that the former, but there's still that 35%-40% out there - and they are totally dug into their hopelessly inane beliefs.
I have to believe that honorable men and women of the FBI, CIA, and other NatSec agencies are appalled by this administration in general and by the ignorant, incurious #IPOTUS specifically. But what to do? They can only hope to persuade enough Representatives and Senators to act; otherwise, we have a coup and we don't - or shouldn't - do coups.
But here's where I digress - there's still that 35%-40% of Americans who don't support the democratic process, who are in favor coups as long as they are in agreement with their own narrow-mindedness and racist beliefs, and who are too ignorant to get past their own fantasy of what the world should look like. For many of them, the "world" begins and ends with the USA.
As much as I hold on to hope that this nightmare soon shall pass, I am also aware that the beast may not be able to controlled and that we may indeed be past the point of no return.

Impeachment is not a dead issue. It is a Constitutional duty. There has never been as dangerous an occupant of the White House as Trump. The fact that there are some in the Senate who are likely as compromised as Trump does not argue in favor of avoiding impeachment, it rather argues that impeachment is even more imperative. Waiting for the Senate to convict before impeachment is foolish.
