Announced at a White House ceremony in 2017, the 20-million square foot campus marked the largest greenfield investment by a foreign-based company in U.S. history and was praised by President Donald Trump as proof of his ability to revive American manufacturing.
Foxconn, which received controversial state and local incentives for the project, initially planned to manufacture advanced large screen displays for TVs and other consumer and professional products at the facility, which is under construction. It later said it would build smaller LCD screens instead.
Now, those plans may be scaled back or even shelved, Louis Woo, special assistant to Foxconn Chief Executive Terry Gou, told Reuters. He said the company was still evaluating options for Wisconsin, but cited the steep cost of making advanced TV screens in the United States, where labor expenses are comparatively high.

They have more planners than DU has members.
Any plans they have - are only made public to the extent that they have to (to secure tax breaks etc). Anything else they keep to themselves for competitive reasons and to not embarrass themselves in the event they change their minds.

(4,037 posts)After eminent domain was used to scalp people from their homes, the Milwaukee / Chicago freeway became endlessly clogged, and our former dipshit ex-governor has been booted, all were left with are the lies, deceit, and shallow Republican pipe dreams.
I doubt anybody really thought Foxx Con would create the predicted 13,000 jobs at an average $53,000 per year. If something sounds too good to be true, thats because it is.
The real joke here is that Skippy Walker has said hed consider another run for Gov. Good luck with that one, Skippy.

(767 posts)I just hope the republicans in Wisconsin wake up from their zombie drone state of mind and REMEMBER. The big screw job was FAKE on day one. The waste of time and money was criminal. I still do not know why this country does not have the technology to do what was planned?? The damn people will not HANG their hero president for this con job, but he sure was a major player who played these poor fools.....

(82,849 posts)He was there for all the hype and hope. Now Foxconn is cutting and running. Isn't Trump going to do anything about it??? He told the country that he was the only one who could fix things. Well, here's something that needs fixing. 13,000 promised jobs have gone where the woodbine twineth. Doesn't that bother the president, who had such high praise for the public/private partnership that got Foxconn to promise all sorts of things just a year and a half ago?

(29,709 posts)Foxconn says it is returning to its original plan to make flat screen panels at a new plant in Wisconsin following an appeal from President Donald Trump.
The Taiwan-based electronics manufacturer caused a storm this week when it said it was considering dropping plans to build the panels at the facility, even though it said it was still anticipating hiring 13,000 workers. The company has been promised $4 billion in state and local incentives to develop the Wisconsin facility.
In a statement Friday, Foxconn said that after a call between Trump and its chairman, Terry Gao, the company has decided to stick with its manufacturing plans after all.
