This week shows exactly why Howard Schultz will be a problem

- Unprecedented FREE airtime, just like with Trump
- No matter how conservative his positions might be, he says he a centrist and the media will present him as such
- Millions of voters will only see the corporate conservative media (which yes includes MSNBC) filter of him and any percentage
of voters who are swayed by this could make a difference

Unless this fizzles and it's only Jan 2019, so plenty of time for that to happen, but after 2016, I don't assume anything

That's why we need to do everything to question his legitimacy BEFORE we get into the thick of the race.

After this is all over, I never, ever want to hear again about how businessmen would run the government better than politicians. 2/6/17

It’s as simple as that, it all comes down to money (for those who are wealthy and worship the green gods).

Ocasio-Cortez on Schultz: Why are billionaires who want to run for president never told to ‘work their way up’?

On MSNBC with the rehabilitation of Chris Christie. 40 minutes on Morning Joe and another 20 in the afternoon. No hard hitting questions, no discussion of Bridgegate, just nice ones about how we are misunderstanding his old friend of 17 years, Donald Trump. He's just not being served well by his minions who are unqualified! Hey what happened to those weeks and weeks of stories about what a bully he was? MSNBC is going to lose many of us if they keep it up!

What Democrat, liberal, or progressive is going to vote for an egotistical, corporate billionaire with a messiah complex?

If this guy runs as an independent he will hurt Trump (if Trump is on the ballot). It is the Trump-types that go for this kind of guy.

In any event, with 57% of potential voters already saying they will definitely vote against Trump, 2020 is going to be a landslide for the Democratic Party nominee no matter what.

(Frankly, I chalk this Schultz 'news' as mostly a creation of the pundit class and the 24-hour media ... they love drama.)

It isn't that he has a chance of winning. It is because he counters the Dem narrative and he will be used by the media to beat up Dems and also used by reporters to immediately put Dems on the defensive.

Edit to add, Stephanie Ruhle went off on some guy yesterday when he said Shultz has a personal objective to stop any new progressive tax. She claimed he had no proof that it motivated Shultz and was not relevant. The guy actually had to compose himself and then respond that of course it is relevant to bring up that the Warren plan would cost Shultz about 91 million in taxes.

First, he already is walking back his timeline.

He has been panned so hard at the outset, hard to see him taking $hit and burning all the $$$ he will for a year plus to lose.

All the heady talk about Warren's tax plan, and I love her, but that has as much chance of happening as you or I getting a winning lottery ticket - actually probably less.

Maybe there will be a push to increase the upper rate nominally, like back when Bill was POTUS, what he will lose on that isn't worth the pain and suffering of running for POTUS.
