It's not eating one's own. It's realizing the political reality of who you answer to. Democrats are never going to have the leeway that republicans have with issues concerning race and women because the base of the republican party is not women and minorities. Now had Kavanaugh paid for an abortion or two, pissed on a cross,and burned a flag over Reagan's grave while kneeling for the anthem, then he'd have to answer to evangelical constituents that make up the GOP.
