We all need to get real about racism. Do you support the NFL? Are you going to watch the Super Bowl? Washington Redskins fans, anybody?
NCAI's Long Standing Opposition to Harmful "Indian" Sports Mascots
As the nations oldest, largest, and most representative American Indian and Alaska Native advocacy organization, NCAI has long held a clear position against derogatory and harmful stereotypes of Native peopleincluding sports mascotsin media and popular culture. In 1968 NCAI launched a campaign to address stereotypes of Native people in popular culture and media, as well as in sports. Since this effort began, there has been a great deal of progress made and support to end the era of harmful "Indian" mascots in sports.

Sometimes fans love to hate mascots, but it can be scary when they REALLY hate the mascot

I sleep soundly at night.

(3,741 posts)4. Part of my point is that everyone is yelling for Northam's head
and we have the equivalent of 'blackface' in sports when it comes to Native American's and no one gives a crap! Can't we understand that is going to take a lot to eliminate racism in our country and we should not throw out the baby with the bathwater.

No interest whatsoever in the commercials nor half-time "entertainment."
It will be Netflix for me all night.
