Dutch church "filibuster" to save Armenian refugee ends

https://www.npr.org/2019/01/31/690403074/months-long-dutch-church-service-to-protect-migrants-ends-after-policy-shift

Some good news for once.

An obscure Dutch law dating back to the horrors of the 80 Years War forbids law enforcement from entering a church while services are in progress. So, as a way of granting sanctuary to an Armenian refugee who had been ordered deported, a Dutch church has been holding a continuous service for almost 100 days. This required volunteer clergy and laity to continue the liturgy constantly the entire time.

A deal was reached with the government that let the refugee stay 2 days ago, and the service finally ended.
