Double standards

Yes racist, bigoted, misogynist, homophobic Republicans should resign. But they won't because they are garbage human beings. And the people that continue to support them in spite of all of that are also garbage human beings. I'm not interested in being a garbage human being.
Yesterday Ralph Northam issued an apology for appearing in a horribly racist photo that he apparently didn't even see because he walked that apology back today...claiming it wasn't him in the photo. Why would you apologize for a photo you hadn't even seen unless you had a history of similar behavior? I'm all for giving people the benefit of the doubt and second chances but not when their mea culpas only come after evidence of their bad behavior surfaces. Especially when their position requires the public trust of millions of people who they've personally hurt by that bad behavior.
Ralph Northam needs to go. For both moral AND political reasons.

Northam switches to GOP

https://www.democraticunderground.com/100211763842

Possible, but not probable: Northam announces his switch to the GOP

GOP controlled legislature agrees that he has seen the error of his ways, and they will "work with the 'centrist' governor to pass legislation that works for ALL Virginians."

Tis possible that this may be satire/sarcasm.

But there's obviously a constituency for openly racist politicians in this country
