Usually ppl were dressing like him to emulate him, he was so popular. To do the skin is more of a mockery...

I was a teen too, and I can remember the film Trading Places, where it was part of a disguise by Dan Akroyd...but even SNL back then didn't do blackface...Buckwheat (Eddie Murphy) may have been a racy/racist, but if it was Eddie Murphy it was ok...

What I am trying to say is that the 80s were far from PC, but racism still stands out as racism no matter the time.

They may have worn a dark foundation - but I'm sure that when the photos surface, he won't be wearing Dark 'N Lovely ...
