Corey Stewart got more votes for Senator than Ed Gillespie did for governor

Just this Virginian's thoughts on why the photo dropped when it did.

1. Northam obviously knew what was on his yearbook page going in; it was absolute idiocy to try to keep it secret. He never should have run and must step down now.

2. The GOP is better at oppo research than we are. We need to start red-teaming our own candidates early on.

3. The GOP has had this for a while; they were probably going to release it during the election if Corey Stewart got the nomination to defuse accusations against him and to depress black turnout.

4. Here is the hard one to accept but most Virginians I've talked to agree: they did not release the photo during the race out of fear that it would cause more white voters to defect from Gillespie to Northam.

5. Stewart got more votes for his Senate race than Gillespie did for governor. Don't let the strength of our party in Northern Virginia fool you: southside and over the mountains might as well be Tennessee.
