Turkey rips countries supporting Venezuela's Guaid

Turkey's foreign minister on Sunday criticized the numerous world leaders who recognized opposition leader Juan Guaidó as Venezuela's legitimate president.

Reuters reported that Mevlut Cavusoglu told reporters in Istanbul that those nations should have focused on "dialogue" rather than increasing pressure on embattled President Nicolás Maduro to step aside.

“There is a problem in a country, there is a spark that can turn into a fire at any moment. In this case, they should have contributed to the solution of the problem through dialogue,” Cavusoglu said, according to Reuters.

“But is that how they handled things? No," he added. "On the contrary, the event was fueled from the outside. The people of Venezuela are being punished by such approach."
