But think of all the moola and other benefits you would get year round if you had a business tatooing people's favorite sports teams on their asses, you can even have a thriving touch up business as they start to get old and their skin loosens.

(31,261 posts)My experience when I have dealt with Bostonians on business trips is that they are reserved, deeply family oriented people. But once you are their friend, you are their friend through all conditions that you may face. A person just have to be observant of that characteristic. I actually think more of Boston and northeast culture than I do of my native Florida. Florida relationships are mostly transactional and rarely go deeper than that. Boston and northeast relationships are harder to develop, but they often go deep once people connect as friends and business associates.

Blue_true
(31,261 posts)accurately. The one instance where I failed at that left me functionally bankrupt for a while. So, I don't take chances. Generally people from Boston and the northeast are solid once you take the time to get to know them and establish a relationship.
Blue_true
(31,261 posts)My experience is they will help you in a heartbeat if it seems like you need help. I observe people a lot, in all situations, people of Boston and the few other large New England cities that I have done business in are very family and community oriented, they don't easily welcome strangers but are warm and accommodating if a person needs help or once they get to know a person's character better. It is easy to miss those things when a person just looks at the surface.

Strange year, other than KC there really wasn't an exiting team at the end of the year. Rams and New Orleans dropped off after Thanksgiving. Philly got hot but had to try and make if from the sixth seed.
Going into the playoffs almost every team had a chance because every team was so damn mediocre. Unfortunately, there were no upsets after the first round. Except for the NE/KC game the whole thing kind of sucked.

(14,565 posts)I despise cupcake football, which has been all too prevalent in the NFL recently. That Rams/Chiefs game on Monday night this season was insulting. A replay of that game would have been the worst Super Bowl ever, because teams would have used it as evidence to lazily cut corners everywhere and just try to win a tennis match where an occasional broken serve is sufficient.
Even though I wanted the Rams to win I no longer care if the Patriots win Super Bowls, unlike other Dolphins fans. I was scared of Brady going unbeaten at some point in his career. The 2007 season was a nightmare until the final minute of the Super Bowl.
But once Brady reached a certain age that I no longer fear an unbeaten season, I can now relax and appreciate how incredibly smart and resourceful that team is.
Jared Goff needs everything going well around him. He has distinct weaknesses, namely a long release and long stride and not much mobility. As long as his offensive personnel and scheme are superior, Goff is fine. But if he doesn't have a running game to fall back on and is forced to throw under duress, the results can be ugly, like the 5 interception game at Utah when he was at Cal.
I didn't watch any commercial except Burger King. I had to stop at that one. Burger King dominates annually.

(15,286 posts)but good, hard-hitting defense is fun to watch especially since the NFL is trying hard to destroy it.
I believe Belichek cheated the Steelers out of at least one SB appearance by taping their signals, but I have to give NE credit for building and maintaining a team around Brady's unique skills. NE is the poster-child for having a system. Their offense is not particularly complex, but they execute it to perfection. Belichek brings players in who fit that system to a T. NE has taken maximum advantage of having Brady, can't take that away from them.
Brady's near the end, though, and opponents have figured out that pressure up the middle gets in his head because he does not like to be hit. They lost 5 games this season. When Brady's gone, NE will revert to being an average NFL team. The NFL draft and scheduling is set up to deny long dynasties and NE has drafted at the end of each round for a lot of years unlike their division opponents. Eventually both will catch up with them. Belichek was not a great coach when he was surrounded by little talent in Cleveland and his assistant coaches have generally flopped as head coaches. We shall see how he does without Brady.

(16,319 posts)Refused to call pass interference, and let the backs do whatever they wanted. There wasn't one pass interference call in the entire game. That's extremely statistically unlikely, and both teams scored way below their season averages while facing relatively weak defenses. The rams for example, scored an average 33 points during the regular season.
The refs have way too much impact in football games, whether it's bad calls or no calls. He'll the league still can't figure out what's a reception.

(38,687 posts)<snip>
"The New England Patriots 13-3 victory over the Los Angeles Rams last night wasnt the most exciting Super Bowl ever played by any measure, but the 2019 NFL championship game was sure one for the history books.
First of all, in the Patriots third consecutive visit to Super Bowl, the matchup in Atlanta on Sunday was the lowest scoring Super Bowl ever, a dubious honor at best. The record had been held by Super Bowl VII, which saw the Miami Dolphins best the Washington Redskins 14-7 on January 14, 1973."
<snip>
"However, when it comes to ratings, Super Bowl LIII is not one anyones going to want to brag about. Shown on CBS for the first time since 2016 and with ad spots going for around $5 million each, the Rams loss scored a 44.9/68 in metered market results.
To put that in the starkest light of day, thats a dip of more than 5% from Super Bowl LII February 4, 2018 on NBC in the first round of ratings. On a larger playing field and amidst a call for a boycott of the game due to the leagues racist treatment of Colin Kaepernick, Sundays metered market result is the worst the Super Bowl has done in the early numbers since the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Arizona Cardinals on February 1, 2009."

(29,205 posts)As a KC fan, this one sucked because the pundits completely trashed the AFL... and this game did nothing to prove them wrong.
Superbowl IV on the other hand... the AFL gained parity to the NFL and proved that the Jets win the previous year was not a fluke.
But this Superbowl certainly lacked very many "sparkling plays" or even a sense of excitement.
Brady is certainly one of the greatest players to ever play... but I would still take Montana any day of the week if I wanted to win. And there are many better pure passers (than either Montana or Brady).
