Top GOP senators slam Trump over fight with intelligence officials

Two influential Republican senators on Sunday admonished President Trump for squabbling with his top intelligence officials – with one calling it “troubling to all of us.”

“There’s an awful lot, there’s so much tradition, and history and complexity to some of these foreign policy issues, you have to rely on people who have been working these issues for decades,” Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin said on “Fox News Sunday.”

“It’s just imperative that you actually listen to, for example, the CIA chief, the director of national intelligence,” Johnson, the chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, continued. “These people have the real knowledge and you have to listen to them.”

Sen. Richard Shelby, the chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, agreed that the president must respect the experience of his intelligence chiefs.

“These are professional people. The president’s briefed every day on it. He’s not an intelligence officer. None of us are. But they – the people on the front lines, the people who analyze who gather and disseminate intelligence information to our higher-ups – we should respect them,” Shelby said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

Why don’t you guys ask McConnell for a non-Binding resolution condemning drumpf’s words. The Dems will support it and you know the House will.

Put your votes where your mouths are.

Seriously, we should make no attempts to shame, mock, or discourage these people from breaking rank.

Every time one of them does, irrelevance to who they are or their (horrid) positions on policy, they should be roundly praised and thanked for stepping forth.

Nursing a potential fracture between Trump and the Republicans is a very, very fragile process.

Maybe an entire future timeline exists where one Republican in his/her overwhelming frustrations with Trump find themselves here one day.

Reading a bunch of unhelpful dreck compels them to toe the line, it's just a bridge too far to stand with us.

Or, they come here and see that we recognize and respect a person for breaking rank against 200% certain retribution, possibly even a primary challenge.

They see that we respect those with the fortitude to break loose from the MAGAt cult.

And decides to take the step forward opposing Trump that is at long last the catalyst needed for a chain reaction in the Republican congress which leads to real action that ends this nightmare.

Of course this would probably never happen, but it *could * happen.

Which outcome do you want to contribute towards?

He’s not just Trump’s toady. He’s Putin’s buddy, too.

And, hey, New York Post, tell me. How did Johnson become a “top” senator?

In huge numbers because of trump and them doing nothing to stop him, and they just thought the Mid Terms was bad. 2020 will be their worse nightmare when they lose the Senate and the Presidency from their positions and policies, and from trump.
