(16,180 posts)Nope, neither do I. Everyone assumes the GOP gets graded on a curve, with very low expectations set.

(15,286 posts)After McConnell was way older than 25 when this picture was taken. He should have known better.

(15,286 posts)why they aren't condeming McConnell. The photo is of the same vintage as the one of Northam. They are going accept McConnell's claims he's different now, but not Northam's?
If you are going to make a big deal about being against racism, then be against it all the time, not just when it's politically convient or necessary.
Let me add, getting rid of McConnell would more than anything to improve civility and set America on a better path forward than getting 10 Ralph Northam's to resign.

(16,180 posts)I suspect that Democrats are allowed to serve as token spokesmen to preserve a semblance of representation for the non-aristocracy. A pressure relief valve for the masses.
We dont hear the same drumbeat from mainstream pundits when left wing blogs bring up old (or not so old) examples of bad behavior on the part of Republicans. There is no echo in the echo chamber for them.

(27,045 posts)Trent Lott, Bob Barr, and others were courting the Council of Conservative Citizens, a neo-Confederate group.
(excerpt)
So the chairman of the NAACP wants to know where these same senators are when it comes to the Council of Conservative Citizens, which promotes the preservation of the white race and whose Web site features articles warning that the nation is turning into a "slimy brown mass of glop." Sen. Trent Lott once addressed this group's national board, welcomed its leaders to Washington, had photos taken with them in his office and then said he didn't know what they were about. The CCC's directors wink and nod at that. One of them was a county chairman of Lott's '94 reelection campaign. One of them is his uncle.
