Watergate's lesson? If Democrats want to heal America, Trump must be held accountable
<snip>
Accountability is essential to the long-term health of our democracy, more important than even healing the nations partisan divisions.
The United States learned this lesson 45 years ago. In August 1974, President Richard Nixon resigned from office in disgrace as soon as it became clear that the House would vote to impeach him for obstructing justice in the Watergate scandal and, moreover, that the Senate would likely vote to remove him from office.
<snip>
The lessons are clear: If an administration commits crimes without being held accountable, the next commander in chief feels emboldened to keep skirting the rules and violating the public trust. It should not be a total surprise that Trump, who came of age in the decades surrounding the pardon, believes that he can skirt the formal limits of power without having to fear any sort of real blowback.
<snip>
As evidence continues to mount about all that President Trump and his advisers have done to violate the public trust, Democrats wont have much choice. If they want to heal the nation, not just for whats happened under Trump but also for whats happened in the decades before, they should make sure that wrongdoing is set right. - USA Today

In a not so subtle way, here we go again. Another article about how it is incumbent upon upstanding democrats to make things right. Where is the outrage at how Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan turned their noses and still Mitch is 100% complicit with the crimes and evil being perpetrated by the people in the oval office.
Democrats alone can't waltz these emboldened criminals out of office. As the saying goes, it takes two to tango. And the KGOP is complicit in this criminal enterprise.
If Trump and Pence aren't impeached and convicted, we should hold republicans to account for the rest of our lives.

OP
No question, if trump isn't a case for impeachment, one does not exist. It's a unicorn.

Hell, we're still fighting Nixon acolytes and their dirty tricks. Stone worked on the Nixon campaign. So did the shadow operators around Bush II, including Dick fucking Cheney.
We need to do more than force Trump out of office. We need to show future politicians that they cannot escape justice by resigning. We need to hold the assholes 'behind the throne' accountable, too.
Shit, Nixon had 'redeemed' his image before he died.

just lets the others know that they too, can commit treason and get away with it
