Polling data from The Morning Consult shows Northams net approval has dropped by about 41 points since the emergence of the KKK and blackface photo in his yearbook profile. The Virginia governors disapproval rating currently stands at 48 percent, reflecting an 18 percent bump in disapproval from Democrats, and a 25 percent jump among independent voters.

opportunity to recruit and replace the loathsome candidate with someone better in the next election. For me, this is the only pragmatic choice that will strengthen our chances to hold Virginia's governor in the D column.

Virginia has a one-term limit.

My efforts in my own state revolve around finding a candidate who is the best we have and who can win the next election.

Northam may ride it out as Fairfax counters the reaccusations.
