Tahoe is closed, folks...nobody is going ANYWHERE! not even locals, can't get to the store, most businesses are closed and busses stopped running @ 3pm.
The big whallop started last nite, and by midday today I'm looking at 3-4 feet just on my deck. I literally cannot find my stairs...
But I'm a crazy mountain girl and I am gonna try! Out of wine and cigs and milk and butter, etc...hopefully the plow comes by by the time I find the driveway and I can make a break for it between waves... they say it's still "Blizzard Warning" till 10pm, and "Winter Storm Warning" till tomorrow @ 4
All schools definitely closed thru wed I'm thinking
how do I post pics?

The River
(2,615 posts)from you. I've been looking at the traffic cameras in the area
and half of them are covered/obscured by snow. The ski areas look
empty.
I'm glad I live below the snow line.

(86,646 posts)That's what a normal snow deposit looks like where I live. We were at +58F Saturday afternoon, Sunday morning it was -10F and snowing. We only have inches of snow but it's been all the way up to +4F today... but that's normal. What isn't normal is that we have only had about six or eight days like this all winter. The rest has been hovering around or above freezing temps and hardly any snow, even in the mountains, we had mostly bare peaks around here until yesterday.

(922 posts)Go to bed early, rip the hill. Stop at the store on the way home. Repeat until it stops dumping.

(13,360 posts)My deck and stairs looked much the same this morning as yesterday... ugh! all that hard work!
At least the plow came by and I got someone COMPETENT to do my driveway! Off to the store!
(once I find the bottom of my stairs again... eeeekkkkk!)
total here at our house in Meyers, I'd say a good 5-6 feet, maybe more if you count the 6" or so we got Saturday...
At least I was able to feed my poor birds and critters this morning too!

(146,317 posts)Years ago, I went skiing, south of where you are in the Sierras. There was a blizzard like that one while I was there. 5' of snow in 24 hours. The resort didn't close, so I just kept on skiing in that fresh powder. Then, it came time to come off the mountain and drive for four hours to get home. I followed a snow plow down the mountain until we got below the snow line. Otherwise, I'd have been stuck there for days.
