(14,249 posts)Previous presidents have forgotten and started speaking - it's easy to do because the Speaker is behind them. But the Speaker or VP usually cuts them off and reminds them. I remember both Obama and GW Bush looking a little sheepish as they stopped talking and waited for the Speaker to introduce them.
In this instance they didn't. I think Nancy probably didn't want to introduce him - why would she want to say it was her high honor and distinct privilege to present him? - so she may have been relieved he just barreled on past that little piece of protocol.
