What's different about Kavanaugh and Fairfax, so far....

.... is that Kavanaugh repeatedly lied at the senate hearing about trivial things. He revealed himself to be sorely lacking in integrity. We may never have the opportunity to find out so much about Fairfax.

1. Yes, we had lots of independent outside facts to judge the Kavanaugh situation

In addition to his flat-out lying under oath, we had his personal calendar from the time in question. We had independent testimony about Kavanaugh's habits in that period of his life before he became a distinguished jurist. Christine Blasey Ford not only had her own story to tell, but she had friends who backed her up, and said that she had told them at the time and subsequently what had happened to her.

So far, we don't have any of that in the Fairfax matter. I realize that in withholding judgment while waiting for more facts to develop, I could be letting Fairfax off the hook for being a rapist. But I think it's meet and proper to wait and see what else might come out. To this point, I can't say with any certainty what happened between Fairfax and Tyson beyond the points of agreement in their two accounts.

So we're going to need more than just each person's story, things like we had in Kavanaugh/Blasey Ford.

2. Well, you could make the case that Fairfax lied...

...when he claimed the WaPo had debunked her allegations, forcing the paper to reply that it hadn’t.

The big difference at this time is that, after Blassey Ford came forward, at least two other women came forward with similar accounts (not that Republicans allowed their testimony to be admitted, of course).

At the moment, the lack of any similar allegations from others is the best thing Fairfax has going for him. If that remains the case, he has a chance of surviving this. If any other credible accusers come forward, though, I expect it’s Game Over.

6. Fairfax may be referring to her claim of suppressing her memory until being triggered

The fact that she claims she suppressed her memory for years and never discussed the incident with anyone until her memory was triggered by seeing a picture of him in 2017 could possibly be looked at as inconsistency.
