Lubbock County judge: Tax hike needed to fund civil war against Obama

Lubbock County judge: Tax hike needed to fund civil war against Obama
Posted on 22 Aug 2012 at 11:39am
And you thought Todd Akin was crazy …

Lubbock County Judge Tom Head, a Republican who chairs the county’s Commissioners Court, says the county needs to increase its property tax rate by 1.7 cents in the next fiscal year — partly so the sheriff’s department is prepared to battle the U.N. troops who will undoubtedly invade the county if President Barack Obama is re-elected. From Fox 34 in Lubbock:

Head said he and the county must be prepared for many contingencies, one that he particularly fears, is if President Obama is reelected.

“He’s going to try to hand over the sovereignty of the United States to the UN, and what is going to happen when that happens?,” Head asked.

“I’m thinking the worst. Civil unrest, civil disobedience, civil war maybe. And we’re not just talking a few riots here and demonstrations, we’re talking Lexington, Concord, take up arms and get rid of the guy.

“Now what’s going to happen if we do that, if the public decides to do that? He’s going to send in U.N. troops. I don’t want ‘em in Lubbock County. OK. So I’m going to stand in front of their armored personnel carrier and say ‘you’re not coming in here’.

My understanding is that they picked Lubbock for Texas Tech so that there would be a University in the middle of west Texas for all of the rural towns to send their kids to.

I haven't been back for years, but I have to believe that it hasn't changed much. When I first flew into Lubbock, I kept looking out the plane window for a city or a town ... I saw nothing but dirt.

After we landed, I could see only one side of the airport and on that side, past the runway, there was absolutely nothing. So I figured the city or town was on the other side of the airport. So I got my bags, walked out side, and could not believe it ... NOTHING. The airport was in the middle of nothing.

On the cab ride to town, I actually saw a tumble weed roll across the road. I considered getting back on the plane.

I mean why use his ignorant argument if you don't expect him to be? Is he giving up on Romney/Ryan so soon?

Beyond that, how freaking sick is it that any elected official would even consider saying something like this, let alone on television. You'd think his opposition on this matter would be calling for him to resign, but I've not heard a peep about that yet.

This is why I'm against electing judges like they do in Texas. People really are stupid enough to think this idiot is a good choice!

Boris Yeltsin wasn't that drunk when he was standing on top of the T72 in 1990-91 when the old guard tried to keep USSR together with violence... It was later he got tipsy - and some more.... But if you think about it - Russia in the 1990, was rather stressfully for anyone with a conscience - and I suspect he needed his drinks - and then some to keep it all together
Remember the 1990s was chaotic in Russia, it was going from one catastrophe to the other... And everyone was surprised Russia doesn't broke to pieces before 1997... I remember, in 1994, when it was rather chaotic many really believed, that Russia could break up in many pieces, and a violent horrible civil war starting.. The Norwegian army even was making preparations for the innfluct of civilians running for their life from a Civil war.. Thankfully the preparations was not necessary, as Russia survived 1994, and no civilians was running from a civil war.. But I guess, our historians, 60 or 70 year from now, will write about how close it was, to a civil war in Russia in the 1990s..

If he would have survived politically, I think we would still have USSR failure, but with a softer landing.

Indeed, those were scary days. I don't blame Boris for tippling. I actually liked him, but not as much as Gorby, who could have helped engineer a new country without so much trauma in the path.

Of course, it's all supposition. Nothing of the sort happened. But now the world has Putin yet again, a person who I do not like too much.

I still like Gorby. He was very shrewd and knew that it was over for CCCP.

Gorbatsjev was maybe the best soviet leader they had, at the time when he got into office in 1985... He might had believed to save USSR with reforms - and before 1988, it looked that way to.. Reforms, more freedom, and detente with the americans - even direct talks with the american president, who was unheard before happened in a few short years.. I do remember the Reykjavik summit, the geneva summits and so one - even though I for the most part was a kid when all this happened, and possible have some weak points in the late history of USSR.. The history will give Gorbie far better mars, than the president of the United States at the same time.. Until the meetings between Gorbie and Reagan in 1985-86 Reagan was a cold war warrior, who once in 1984, made a international scandal when he for "joke" in a mike testing setting, joked about nuking the Soviet Union by an all out attack.. Un-necessary to say, the russians was not amused about it...

When you think about how the cold war ended - it was a far better outcome, than the possibility most was believing when the cold war was on it coldest, an both sides was living in fear of nuclear weapons excange... That would be devastating for both sides, and for the whole world.. Far worse than it did, when the cold war kind of stooped in their own paths - by the end of the east block, and then with USSR in 1991...

But - it is a big BUT here -and that is that the birth of Russia, and the other states in Europe and in Asia could have been a whole different other - as the 1990s was rather chaotic - and the new democratic society kind of was getting on the wrong foot - it might have the facade of a democracy - but it was not a real democracy, even though I believe mr Yeltsin really tried hard, to get the ship on a right track to democracy.. But he had the old guard - and the new, now powerfully criminal syndicates against him - and the old guard - and the new criminal syndicates was not out to let Yeltsin win the game.. In his later days, specially after he got ill I suspect the group around him got more and more power - and was able to steal a lot of russian wealth at the same time... The Yeltsin family got a form of "amnesty" of sorts after Yeltsin was leavening power in 1999/2000, when Vladimir Putin got in from the cold - surprising everyone who might have had an interest in it... And few nations who was there when USSR break up - is democratic - the few ones who is, have its share of problems with democracy - and the all illusive idea of how to make a country prosperous and rich.. Many ways to it have been tried - most have just ended in chaos, and dictatorship... I suspect that in 1989-91 when the cold war ended, we lost out of a golden opportunity to make it possible for the nations who was emerging, to build a better future... with a type of "Marshall plan" of a large scale, both to Russia but also to the 15 other stations I suspect it would have been a whole different case, in Russia, as in the other nations - and I also suspect, the chaotic 1990 would have been far less painfull... The idea many had was grand - making Russia into a democratic country after 70 year of communist rule - and then 500-1000 year of rather unpleasant authoritarian rule by an absolute monarc... Many forgot - also in Russia, that it took many hounderes year for us in Western Europe and in USA/Canada and other places, to go true it all, to a stable form of democracy... The russians believed they should be able to skip it all, in a decade... That was naive... both on us, but also on the russians..

Mr Putin is not any democrat - and I suspect he want Russia to be a far more authoritarian state than it is today - and he try very hard to turn back the time, to a time when the leaders have the powers - and the others just have to obey - or to risk prison or worse.. And as long as he can rely on security systems - specially FSB and RVS, and other more less known security systems I'm afraid mr Putin indeed can turn back the clock - and be in power to at least 2018-2020... If he choose too

Judge Tom, first off, nobody is coming to Lubbock. It’s a hellhole. It’s hot as a frying pan in the summer, colder than a witch’s boob in a brass bra in the winter, and one damn crappy place in between. You can’t pay people to come to Lubbock. Hell, son, you could offer starving people in China a fancy condo in Lubbock and they wouldn’t take it.

Second off, I do not care how seasoned your police are, they cannot take out a predator drone or the United States Marines. And there would be thousands of them — all whining about being in damn Lubbock.
