Okay, let me see if I get this straight.
In 1973, Roe v Wade made abortion legal in the US. (which is still shocking to me that it took so long)
So the govt gives money to clinics to offer birth control counseling, and abortion services, etc as part of a LEGAL and safe program for citizens.
Why are the fundies still crowing and trying to make this an issue?
Why do we still have people in leadership roles putting these asinine stipulations into bills trying to undermine a matter that was decided in 1973?
Why is the Republican Party even entertaining the idea of a 'Personhood Amendment'... so they can add an Amendment every time a Supreme Court decision from the past bothers them? ... they can just "re-write" amendments from years or decades ago now?
I wish our President would come out and say essentially this.... "Look, we had this decided back in 1973 - that women's reproductive health is worthy of being safe and legal... if you want to oppose it in your own family or faith, fine...that's why we are a FREE country. Now let's get back to talking about jobs, economy, alternative energy, etc...we have more important things to debate than what goes on in someone elses' uterus..."
couldn't he essentially just call them out?

One thing about a system like ours is that anything is subject to change if enough people want to change it, and few issues are ever settled.
The governor of Texas talked about seceding last year!
Slavery could be reintroduced here in a few months time if there was the national political will to do so.
