In Tweets, Trump Signals He Will Support Bipartisan Spending Deal

In tweets on Tuesday evening, President Trump suggested he may support the bipartisan spending deal that only includes a portion of the billions he wanted for his border wall.

Trump touted the deal’s allotment of $23 billion for border security and then thanked Republicans for “dealing with the Radical Left.”

“Not an easy task, but the wall is being built and will be a great achievement and contributor toward life and safety within our country!” he said.

The tweets signal a shift in Trump’s thinking on compromise lawmakers reached on Monday evening. When asked about the deal on Tuesday, Trump said he was not happy with the plan, but said he was “thrilled” with where it was going, possibly suggesting he never planned to veto it.

CNN reported on Tuesday that Trump plans to accept the funding compromise in order to avoid a second shutdown and then use executive action to launch wall construction projects.
