Senate Democrats Are Still Figuring Out This Whole Resistance Thing
Theres an important battle brewing between President Donald Trump and congressional Democrats, one with serious implications for the way the country is governed. No, Im not referring to the prospect of another government shutdown, though that is serious. I mean the actual staffing of the government, the top officials who run our federal agencies.
Its a contest with high stakes, particularly for Democrats, who control few levers of power in Washington, despite their new majority in the House of Representatives. And yet the tussle over regulatory nominations has flown under the radar in political media, obscured by more explosive confrontations.
For several months now, the Trump administration has kept Wall Street watchdog posts vacant by sitting on Democratic nominations. And for months progressive political organizations have been leaning on Senate Democrats to do something ― anything ― about it.

This is older than 12 hours so Im posting it here. But I couldnt find it under the breaking news forum and it seems like a pretty important story. Ive contacted my Democratic senators asking them to urge Schumer to start fighting this and bring more attention to it. Its pretty outrageous.
And it fits well with yesterdays episode of the Majority Report, https://majorityreportradio.com/2019/02/12/the-myth-of-capitalism-monopolies-and-the-death-of-competition-w-jonathan-tepper , where Sam Seder interviews Jonathan Tepper who is the author of The Myth of Capitalism: Monopolies and the Death of Capitalism.
Tepper believes that wages are stagnant because were not enforcing antitrust laws. He is an economic analyst catering to asset managers, who describes himself as right of center. He started studying antitrust issues when he discovered that wages were stagnant in spite of every other indicator showing they should be rising.
I personally believe we need to be looking at redistribution as well, but heck, lets at least enforce existing laws.
But it takes robust regulatory agencies and progressive outrage to make sure these laws are enforced.
