Now that Ann Coulter is consistently bad mouthing Comrade Combover can we please, for the love of god, refrain from "I love Ann Coulter!" posts?
Ever since this orange asshole was elected, this forum has been inundated with these types of posts concerning Rick Wilson, Nicole Wallace, Steve Schmidt, and even Bill Kristol forfuckssake. These people are not our friends, they're not our allies, and they're not on our side. Liberals need to stop throwing life preservers to these rats trying to escape the sinking ship that has become the GOP.
These people, all of them, are opportunists. Plain and simple. They are no more our allies than Putin. The only thing they give two shits about is their bank accounts. Period. Wallace worked long and hard to foist someone as bad and as ignorant on the American people as Trump. I'm talking about the Great Northern Dingbat Sarah Palin. She busted her ass to get someone elected that she knew was so horrendous she couldn't vote for that ticket. That's not commendable, that's fucking horrifying. Steve Schmidt is now actively working towards the re-election of the Archie Bunker billionaire by becoming the coffee billionaire's adviser. Had Hillary won, not one of these windsocks would be on MSNBC. Every one of these assholes would be on FOX news screaming for investigation of why she didn't wear a flag lapel pin. Or why she wore a beige pantsuit. Or Benghazi. Or Bill meeting with the AG on an airport tarmac, etc, etc, et fucking cetera.
These people are not on our side and will stab us in the back the minute the wind shifts. They have actively worked against us and our party for decades. They have called us traitors to our country to our faces. Please, let these fucking rats go down with the ship they themselves set fire to.
Edit to add: There have not been "I love Ann Coulter" posts that I have seen on DU. My post is merely pre-emptive based on dozens of "I love Steve Schmidt" and other GOP strategists who are anti trump posts.

Ana Navarro, Steve Schmidt, Nicole Wallace, Kurt Bardella, Jennifer Rubin, David Frum, Bill Kristol, Rick Wilson, Andrew Sullivan - they are not our friends or allies, no matter how friendly they may seem. They never have been.
Same goes for professional politicians like Jeff Flake and Bob Corker.
If and when rethugs wise up and return to reality, all the above will go running back to the GOP's welcoming embrace where they will turn and spit on us.
Just because we may agree with something they said today, doesn't mean they can be trusted. Just because they're regularly on MSNBC doesn't make them allies. I will never forgive these people for calling us traitors while W was sacrificing the lives of our sons and daughters for political gain.

Big mistake comparing Wallace with Coulter, I agree with the rest of your rant. Peace.
Glamrock
(11,802 posts)We'll have to agree to disagree. If she had left the campaign I might have a bit of respect for her. She didn't. She stayed in till it was over working to get the person elected that she supposedly "fueded" with. And might I add, sitting out an election in which the VP is completely unqualified and second in line to someone who was elderly and had health issues instead of voting for the qualified candidate is not something that should be commended. No, she certainly is not as vitriolic or hateful as Coulter. We can agree on that. But I will not ever trust her, nor forgive her until she comes out as a Democrat. And best to my knowledge, she has yet to do so.
kag
(4,079 posts)I hated her during W's administration, but only because she was eloquent and smart, and fighting for the wrong side. I don't really remember her during the '08 campaign.
Here's my thing about conservatives: I wish there was a credible, reasonable, viable conservative party because I think our political system would benefit from healthy debate about the issues with people who have worthwhile opinions to share. I don't hate all conservatives. I DO hate what the GOP has become, and don't blame any of those you named for jumping ship. (Last I heard, Coulter still calls herself a republican.) But among all of them, Wallace is the only one I can listen to for more than five minutes.
Also, we should add to the list of idiotic former republicans who should never be taken seriously: Joe Scarborough.
I don't blame them either. But I do take issue with liberals here who post love fest posts about these people. These people are directly responsible for Trump. They turned a blind eye, shit, they embraced the misogeny and racism that runs through the veins of the GOP for political expediance. In a normal society, they'd be laughed off whatever stage they stand on. They should never, ever, ever be lauded on a site for Democrats. Period. And you ain't shitting about Joe Scar. Fuck him. Fuck him with the tailgate of a F250. And if people quit watching him, he'd be gone. Then maybe we could get a good liberal voice like Joy Reid in the morning.
watoos
(7,142 posts)she runs circles around Joy. Let me also point out, if you had watched Nicole, I don't know if you ever do, she has apologized for her roles in the Bush administration and McCain campaign. You are again wrong in using "these people" to include Nicole. I totally agree with your take on the other people. I don't say anything about Joe Scar because I NEVER watch him, you must to be able to form an opinion about him.
Nicole Wallace destroys Trump, every day, at 4 PM eastern. She has the best guests on her show. It isn't even close with me regarding Nicole. She reminds me of Dylan Ratigan with her passion. Too bad we don't have more Nicoles on cable news, it is filled with right wing parrots. There are only 2 people I watch religiously on cable news; Nicole and Rachel, and Nicole is better than Rachel.

(37,648 posts)Wallace & Schmidt are not Democrats, certainly, but they are not shock hate radio hosts like Coulter and Limpballs. Coulter and Limpballs exist for the purpose of stirring trouble and stoking hatred against liberals. Wallace is a legitimate Republican operative who has opinions across the spectrum on the right. Schmidt is worse than Wallace, but not a hate radio host like Coulter.

Comparing Ann Coulter to Nicole Wallace is a joke. Anyone who believes that it is a good thing for msnbc to cancel Nicole's show supports Donald Trump, IMO. How many Democrats have the guts to call Trump a traitor? Nicolle does. How many Democrats are calling for Trump's impeachment? Nicolle does. How many Democrats have suggested that the 25th Amendment be used to remove Trump from office? Nicolle has.
Nicolle Wallace has more guts in condemning Trump than half of our Democratic politicians. I'm not bashing Democratic politicians but there are a lot of them who are pushing to wait before we go after Trump. I'm just saying that I am in the Auntie Maxine camp, we need to push forward now with guns blazing.
I would rather someone start a thread debating whether our Democratic candidates should be running on the platform of cooperating with Republicans. How about that folks? We have all arrived at the realization that we have a common problem, and it is a big one. We undoubtedly have different long range goals but nobody is getting anything now.
We are not going to be rid of this problem by sanitizing our bubble. The never Trump rightwingers play the same tune - they can't stand the idea of working with Democrats, especially the female ones. We can't do much about their issues, but we can mind ours.
If you think that we in the US can have the luxury of continuing to have our government led by a mental incompetent, who hires only grifters and goofs, & who is probably under the thumb of one or more foreign powers, then I guess you stick with purity.
Otherwise ... the right wingers who are fed up can help us with the Senate. If we want to get rid of this rotten person that's the only way forward. We have no leverage with the Republican seantors, no chance of convincing them, & almost no chance of changing the Senate in the future. On the other hand ... they do.

(16,411 posts)People come in all shapes and sizes as do their political beliefs. Most people are smart enough to know there will ALWAYS be the other side, and yet there are always a few foolish folks who think the GOP is dead or dying and its only a matter of time before a progressive utopia dawns and everyone will lock arms in a singalong. That is of course never going to happen. So since there will ALWAYS be an opposition id rather it be the Nicole Wallaces of the world calling the shots within the GOP than someone like Tom Cotton who is a fanatic. My guess is people like the OP and many of the posters in the thread are either unable or unwilling to make those distinctions.
Glamrock

You take the high road while these same people call us traitors for disagreeing with a war that killed hundreds of thousands. You take the high road while these same people use racism and homophobia to make political headway in order to give tax cuts to billionaires. I appreciate you showing me the correct road, singing kumbaya while the middle class is decimated, the environment is destroyed, and minorities are routinely dehumanized.
Are ya fucking kidding me man? Change your fucking handle. You're not fighting fuck all if you can't recognize those who are fighting against you.

(7,142 posts)on air she has apologized for her support for Bush and McCain.
Wallace doesn't work for Bush now, she certainly doesn't work for McCain. What Nicole Wallace does right now is host a cable news show at 4 PM eastern, as Ekhard Tolle writes in "The Power of Now" that is the only thing in life that is real, the present moment. Everything else, the thoughts about the past and future are not real but are products of one's ego. What Nicole Wallace is doing now, in the present moment, is bashing Donald Trump, is bashing the Republican party, is bashing Mitch McConnell. What Nicolle is doing is real.
All of the negativity that is posted here about Nicole, I have seen nothing negative posted about her cable news show. I have seen nothing negative posted about what she is doing in the present moment, and that is all that really matters.
I challenge anyone to post something that Nicole has done or said on her show that hurts the Democratic party, anything that has supported Donald Trump and Republicans.

(11,802 posts)I appreciate you trying to educate me about Nicole Wallace. No snark. I mean it. But I can't go there. She worked against us for decades. Can people change? Absolutely. Absolutely. Perhaps I'm small minded. Perhaps it's the Irish in me that makes me hold grudges like a dog gaurds his bone. Maybe she has switched or changed or seen the error of her ways. But I cannot trust her. She's one of hundreds that caused this presidency. If she admits it and apologizes for it? Good on her. But until we have a Democratic president, my opinion stands. If at that point, she doesn't turn into Joe Scarborough, I'll be more than happy to eat my words. Fair enough?
PS yes I've seen her show. Yes it's decent. No I don't think it's better than Rachel's or Joy's.

She IS the enemy
Coulter, Ingraham, Hannity and Limpballs, are the quartet of RW demagoguery. Whatever they may say one day will be contradicted the next to fit the ideological brainwashing of their minions.

I read an interesting phrase the other day, it came from a Boeing manager commenting on the demise of the Airbus A380. Boeing had bet in the other direction, away from behemoth aircraft when it designed the B787. He said "when your enemy is making a mistake, don't wake him up"

(27,464 posts)Coulter is only speaking out against Drumpf because the public had forgotten she exists and this was a great way to attract attention. And her current stance, that the Orange One isn't enough of a wingnut, is downright dangerous. To hell with her.

(330 posts)And as long as Nicole Wallace is willing to have a show on MSNBC and bash the shit out of deplorables and thier Fuhrer I'm cool with it. She made her bed and now she is stuck with us like it or not. As far as Steve Schmidt he is persona non grata with repukes and none of them are ever going to trust him again. Ann Coulter is the freak show act of the republican circus as far as I'm concerned. All you need is dotard in a ringleader outfit with a whip and a chair saying "huray, huray, huray, rednecks and hillbilly's of all ages. Step up and see stick figure spinster what talks while having no brain"!

(2,993 posts)Nicolle Wallace and the others criticize Trump because he's visibly unstable and erratic. They point out the open stupidity of his actions and worry about his impact on the future of their party. I disagree strongly with the principles they defend, but they see the same problems with Trump that we do.
Coulter is going after Trump for not being sufficiently Trumpish. She wants him to be even loonier.
Sometimes, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Other times, she is also an enemy.

(320 posts)This creature, Ann Coulter, is one of the most odious creatures imaginable. She is disgusting. She is hideous. The very best way to discredit such an unspeakable cretin it to just ignore her. So, your request is totally reasonable. It is not a question of the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Ann Coulter is not the friend of sanity, not the friend of democracy.

(963 posts)I hesitate to support the idea that people should refrain from expressing their views on anyone just because you have been here long enough to see a pattern develop where some individual criticizes their own party and suddenly threads start popping up applauding these people for that out-of-character criticism because they happen to agree with that critique.
Maybe some people haven't been around DU as long as you have and would also like the opportunity to experience the learning of these patterns that you have tried to preempt with this post. After all, aren't you and others missing the opportunity to comment on why we shouldn't applaud these people for having a brief moment of political clarity after years lost in the fog of extreme partisanship if we try and stifle the idea of these conversations before they even happen?
You certainly touch on the topic when you post threads like this one but I feel it is far better to let the conversations happen naturally without the advanced dismissal of such topics. It almost says that your familiarity and fatigue with such threads should be the standard when in reality your experience certainly couldn't be the experience of everyone here.
Not intending to offend, just don't want to think people might hesitate to post if they feel that they will be dismissed immediately.

(11,802 posts)Couple things I gotta say.
First, you give too much credit. While my ego may appreciate the thought that posters may choose what they want to discuss based on what ole Glamrock has to say about it, my intellect tells me otherwise. Such the shame.
Second, you may have missed my point. In no way am I asking people not to post about the right eating their own. Im merely asking people to recognize that these people arent our allies.

(11,574 posts)Granted, he may have made derogatory comments about Trump. However, keep in mind how he tried to get the incompetent Sarah Palin elected to the vice presidency, a heartbeat away from the arguably the most powerful and most important job in the world. Now, he's working to help Howard Schultz run for president, whose candidacy would pull votes away from the Democratic candidate, and ensure Trump's reelection. No matter how much he has criticized Trump, Schmidt is far from our friend.
