The House and Senate should vote to protect the balance of powers...

It may be the best vote from a partisan viewpoint, also.

If Republicans do not vote to protect the power of the Congress, and vote to expand the power of the Executive, it could come back to haunt them in a way they don't yet imagine?

Some would argue that it would be best to show a strong will and a strong vote in protecting the separation of powers, and end the fiasco before it gets to the Supreme Court?

Because, if the Supreme Court was to vote against Trump and the Republicans in a year or two, deep in the midst of an election, it could be much more damaging to the Republicans than if they were to over-ride Trump's veto at this time. It would be very damaging to Donald J Trump, in my opinion.

And we know, due to the particular law in effect, the Senate will be forced to vote on it. So we will get everyone on record.

Trump knows he'll lose in the courts. This is just Presidential cosplay for his fans.

I will not make that assumption. They have shown a willingness to ignore and subvert the Constitution if it serves their interests.
