(28,342 posts)Funny how that works.
I'm a Democrat. I support DEMOCRATS - not people who just want to use our party every 4 years.

(18,770 posts)Don't bash Democratic public figures
Do not post disrespectful nicknames, insults, or highly inflammatory attacks against any Democratic public figures. Do not post anything that could be construed as bashing, trashing, undermining, or depressing turnout for any Democratic general election candidate, and do not compare any Democratic general election candidate unfavorably to their general election opponent(s).
Why we have this rule: Our forum members support and admire a wide variety of Democratic politicians and public figures. Constructive criticism is always welcome, but our members don't expect to see Democrats viciously denigrated on this website. This rule also applies to Independents who align themselves with Democrats (eg: Bernie Sanders).

(3,259 posts)He is outflanked to his right and left.
What he did do is maintain his base by not putting in an effort to get Clinton elected. He is a career politician and has learned a lot about fundraising and campaigning. Big money. Bull in a China shop. Watch out.

People might want to check with "Elizabeth" before they relegate her to helpmeet. Senator Warren is a Democrat running for President of the United States.

(24,122 posts)would hope though she picks Bernie as her VP. Hillary would have thumped tRump had she picked Bernie to be her running mate instead of Tim Kane.

(18,303 posts)Should she win the nomination, I trust her judgement in choosing a VP. She hardly needs it 'splained to her by novices.
Hillary earned more votes than any other candidate throughout the last presidential election season. She thumped them all.
I doubt that putting BS at the bottom of the ticket would have satisfied the Sanders to Trump crossover voters in PA, MI, and WI who delivered the electoral college and the presidency to the Republican Trump.

(18,303 posts)Some highlights from the video announcement in which the refreshed and rested politician sports a tailored black suit, a tasteful tie, and neatly coiffed hair.
BS wants to take on the military industrial complex!
BS wants to take on Amazon!
BS wants to take on the NRA!
Special interests have a huge influence over the media and the political parties!
Trump is a racist and a sexist!
Trump is a fraud!
all because...
At no point does BS actually say that he is now a Democrat.

(4,035 posts)Without vetting all the questions beforehand? Or is he too chicken?
(Seven Days has tried to get an interview with the Senator for over 1400 days without success, because Bernie insists on setting all the conditions for the interview, including the questions. They refuse to let a politician get away with that, so he continues to refuse to be interviewed. We've also seen him literally walk out of interview when he didn't like the questions - very Presidential, I thought.)

"Bernie Sanders sat down with the New York Daily News editorial board last Friday, seeking its endorsement in the upcoming April 19 Empire State primary. It did not go well for the senator from Vermont.
Time and again, when pressed to get beyond his rhetoric on the evils of corporate America and Wall Street, Sanders struggled. Often mightily. (The Daily News published the full transcript of the interview today so you can check it out for yourself.)
A few examples make the point.
Heres an exchange between the editorial board and Sanders on how, specifically, he would break up the biggest banks in the country:
Daily News: And then, you further said that you expect to break them up within the first year of your administration. What authority do you have to do that? And how would that work? How would you break up JPMorgan Chase?
Sanders: Well, by the way, the idea of breaking up these banks is not an original idea. Its an idea that some conservatives have also agreed to.
Youve got head of, I think its, the Kansas City Fed, some pretty conservative guys, who understands. Lets talk about the merit of the issue, and then talk about how we get there. ...
Daily News: Okay. Well, lets assume that youre correct on that point. How do you go about doing it?
Sanders: How you go about doing it is having legislation passed, or giving the authority to the secretary of treasury to determine, under Dodd-Frank, that these banks are a danger to the economy over the problem of too-big-to-fail.
Daily News: But do you think that the Fed, now, has that authority?
Sanders: Well, I dont know if the Fed has it. But I think the administration can have it."

(146,324 posts)That declaration is still to come, I suppose. Probably sooner rather than later. It's a question that will be asked constantly until he declares himself to be a Democrat plainly and simply.
We shall see.

(146,324 posts)I don't know its official status, though. But, the principle is clear. The question was never raised in Sanders' interview with CBS News this morning. That surprised me. Perhaps the question was not allowed by Bernie Sanders as a condition of the exclusive interview. That would make sense, as would knowledge that the question was important by CBS News.
It's interesting, I think, and is going to continue to be an issue.

As noted elsewhere, he is quite restrictive in granting interviews with respect to the conduct and content of his interviews.

(146,324 posts)1. No questions regarding my membership in the Democratic Party.
2. No questions regarding my IRS tax forms.
And, sure enough, neither of those questions were used in the interview.
Unfortunately, news media people often accept such limitations to get a beat on other outlets. I find that to be unprofessional, frankly.
MineralMan
(146,324 posts)That's why they termed it an "exclusive" interview. Since CBS News has a national audience, they meant "exclusive" in terms of that audience, I'm sure.
I mean, what is the total audience count for anything on Vermont Public Radio?
