(13,571 posts)SHAME on CNN.
It's a portion of the Manafort Sentencing Report that will focus on collusion.
IT IS NOT THE MUELLER INVESTIGATION REPORT.

(18,770 posts)Barr, 2nd-3rd day on the job says this?
I feel like the worst ratfucking in history was just implemented in the last 2 days...
Washington (CNN)Attorney General Bill Barr is preparing to announce as early as next week the completion of Robert Mueller's Russia investigation, with plans for Barr to submit to Congress soon after a summary of Mueller's confidential report, according to people familiar with the plans.
The preparations are the clearest indication yet that Mueller is nearly done with his almost two-year investigation.
The precise timing of the announcement is subject to change.

(30,613 posts)...not that Mueller is ready to end it.

(5,586 posts)Mueller has supposedly been writing this report for a month now. It doesn't seem that far fetched that he was waiting for Barr to come on board, brief him, and the wrapping it all up.

(17,067 posts)Would we know how it ends? I'm sure we would eventually find this out.
lagomorph777
(30,613 posts)Also, if there are no indictments of Turd Junior or Jared Turd-in-law, that means Barr killed it.

(14,314 posts)Trump was suckered into appointing him.

(2,002 posts)I'm surprised so many people haven't caught on. This was about giving Republicans an "out". When Barr looks at the evidence and allows deviation from DOJ guidelines and allows an indictment of the sitting President, the Trump Fan Club can't "cry foul"; Trump selected him. So if the guy Trump selected to replace the guy Trump selected agrees Trump can be charged, its over. Barr is an institutionalist; I expect him to look at the mountain of evidence and go with whatever Muller says is proper.

(18,770 posts)That *might* be the case, which would be the best case scenario. But I watched Ford pardon Nixon on live TV. I was 10 but the impact it had on me stuck with me thru Iran/Contra. I always hope the government will do the right thing (ESPECIALLY THIS one).

(8,738 posts)By all outward appearances Mueller is still actively conducting his investigation
(see: Stone, Roger - still several links in that chain, up to and including trump)
Grand Jury is still hearing evidence (recent 6 month extension)
Vast majority of staff for Muellers office are still on payroll.
Given that it seems unlikely its anywhere near done

(19,193 posts)This gets reported every week or two now. I'll believe it when I see it. Would surprise me if the investigation doesn't continue through 2019. Maybe a partial report is given, or a status update.

(18,770 posts)This is a SUPER-HUGE ratfucking. I pray I'm wrong, but I watched Ford's pardon of Nixon LIVE. More of the "for the good of the country" shit!
PTWB
(4,131 posts)That there is NO way Mueller voluntarily ends the investigation without indicting Trump Jr. If that happens Im calling BS and Ill say with confidence that Barr killed
It.

(6,253 posts)What are we going to do about it?

(10,491 posts)Anyone who counted on this as the end of the Trump presidency probably was certain that the W presidency was ending on 36 separate occasions as well.
What happens next is interesting.
Mueller can only investigate Russian collusion. Anything else he found out - like everything Cohen did - goes to the USAGs.
That's honestly always been the danger here. Someone with two years and a huge budget to investigate all the shady ways of Trump World.

(50,318 posts)There's no way Junior didn't commit a crime.
If the investigation ends without Jr indicted we can be confident that Barr fucked us and killed the investigation. No doubt in my mind.
cbdo2007
(9,213 posts)indicted this week or next then. They wouldn't release the report without the final indictments.
But this does all line up to Rosenstein saying he would stay until the report is complete. Would make the National Emergency make a lot more sense.

This is the best indicator you could get that there is a There there.
Its already been discussed how the report is set up to be released automatically per procedure. If attempts to block that go on the Dems can just dump it.
I can hope can't I?.

(22,917 posts)If so I believe they represent trains that have already left the station that can not now be quashed by Barr.
I think all of the news over the last few days about the FBI Counter Intelligence probe of Trump, coupled with the NY Times reports about Trump trying to interfere in the NY office Justice Dept probes, makes it much more difficult for Barr or anyone else to try to bury Mueller's findings now. Basic common sense dictates that the allegations/suspicions against Trump are extremely serious and they must be cleared up one way or the other so that "a cloud doesn't remain over the presidency."

Eyeball_Kid
(7,434 posts)since the House will subpoena the records and release them anyway. If so, Barr will lose all credibility. This will be far worse for Barr as his final assignment before retirement. If he holds back, his legacy will be shit.
watoos
(7,142 posts)will have to subpoena Mueller to get at the truth. In a public hearing.

We need an independent counsel law like we had post-Nixon. But, as it stands now, the DOJ doesn't have to release anything to the general public even though 86% want to see the report.

(28 posts)I have this bad feeling that somehow this bastard will weasel his way out of this unscathed and he will be free to do whatever he wants like a real dictator. Collusion has been in plain sight the whole time but I'm afraid Mueller will not settle this one way or the other.
ecstatic
(32,745 posts)he will do the right thing (indict). We already have more than enough information to remove, indict, and replace dump. Mueller's report just let's us know how many additional years he should serve in prison (or if he should get capital punishment for treason).
