Does "Jeopardy"'s producers know how sexist this Finalist game really looks?

All these men and a sprinkling of women!

It was an embarrassing show tonight. They are trying something new with their format and it is laughably sexist and racist.

How does Alex Trebek NOT see this and talk to his producers about how the show is coming across.

Jeopardy has been around a long time. I wish it had changed with the times, but evidently it didn't, or couldn't.

I guess it'll take some economic pressure from the sponsors to make the producers see the light....

I think the show is designed for male strengths. Surely there is a way that even an old chestnut like Jeopardy can be brought into this century's decade.

Looks like while correctly answered questions are a similar percentage amounts wagered in Final Jeopardy show that woman are more SMALL "c"onservative than men. So in the same game they both have 10000 going into Final Jeopardy and both correctly answer the question the man(42%) is on average going to bet more than the woman(29%) thus winning the game.

I just think that if Harvard and Yale have figured out how to have a relatively gender equal admissions process, Jeopardy could come up with one also...

So because the study shows woman bet less than men during Final Jeopardy the show needs to change?

Here is a list of Final Jeopardy categories - https://fikklefame.com/final-jeopardy-categories-june-2018/ for a little bit

That study is correct. Women take less risks. In reality there are way more women on the show these days. I see no reason for jeopardy to change the format. Julia Collins is second in terms of number of games won and she is the team leader in this all-star team tournament.

The women who win multiple times, consistent with the less risk thing, guess at answers less than male contestants.
Guessing is death on jeopardy, excepting a Daily Double where you're already on the hook.
Not sure of an answer: don't push the button.
Highly successful women on the show are much better at avoiding guesses.

I've long had the sense that women are less aggressive about buzzing in, so that may play a part too.

...of course there will be arguments, but the differences are subtle - like gender bias in the SAT test. I'll throw out a challenge as an example: How many times has there been a sports category, compared to a fashion/decorating category? You get the idea.

We also don't know if there is self-selection bias in contestants who choose to try out for the show.

On the college tournament, women seem to do well.

Jeopardy goes way back, pre alex Trebek. It's a wonder that it hasn't gotten more diverse in terms of its categories.

As far as the contestants are concerned, I find the males often tend to be show offs to the point of obnoxious, while the women are not so "flamboyant." Perhaps this leads me to view the program as sexist. Trebek ought to be a better influence on that.

When I auditioned for the show, more than 25 years ago, I remember that as the majority-male crowd of would-be contestants filed into the room, the producer called out loudly in disappointment, "C'mon women. Where are the women?!".
