Question for historians out there.

What Presidents can you think of that came to the White House claiming a "strong business background"? I can only think of two: Herbert Hoover and George W. Bush (had MBA from Harvard and ran several businesses that went bankrupt). They didn't come away from the Presidency with a good economic record. Can you think of any other Presidents who claimed a "strong business background"?

Many of the early Founders managed their own plantations, which took considerable business skill. Washington was an extremely savvy businessman (Jefferson, not so much). But otherwise, none but those you named.

Which I think gave him a better understanding of economics than any successful businessman!
