(13,041 posts)The guy had nothing to gain by testifying since he's already been sentenced. I had thought he'd maybe get some time shaved off his 3-year sentence. But apparently not - i heard today on MSNBC he's not getting any favors by testifying.
If anyone is on the bench about Cohen's mea culpa whose trying to get on the right side of history, Cohen's answers would have convinced them provided they keep an open mind and haven't drank the Republican Koolaid of blind loyalty to the Idiot no matter what else becomes known about him, his thuggish character, his shady business deals, or what crimes he's committed.

(37,648 posts)Cortez brought it up again and applied it to a golf course in her area and called attention to it. But it had been touched on in earlier testimony. That's all I'm saying. She didn't "get him to admit tax fraud." He had already explained that earlier that day. I was just clarifying.

(5,311 posts)I saw her questioning of Cohen today. She did it very skillfully and to the point. Very well done indeed. I was very impressed by her today.

(62,416 posts)I thought he question time was one of the most important if not the most important.
AOC is really sharp - she cuts directly to the heart of the problem quickly and without a lot of side roads.
Sometimes the bartenders and the janitors are the sharpest minds in the room.

(3,626 posts)Never ask a question you don't already know the answer to. AOC knew the answers, and Cohen knew she knew, and they both knew where they stood.

(37,648 posts)that she had "gotten him to admit tax fraud." That wasn't the case. It was investigated already by Mueller and SDNY or whoever. And he had testified to it previously at the hearing. I think she even referred to his earlier testimony. So this was not a new issue.

(3,626 posts)The real point was the "who else knew, where would we find the evidence" questions. Because while the FBI might have that info too, now the House has it and they can write some subpoenas.

(6,855 posts)Solidified the pattern of tax cheating by undervalueing assets. Good television. Would have asked a few how so Or please describe questions in follow up, but the use of time was very effective. Summary: hes a cheater, were going after his taxes, all New York and Florida dealings, freight trains coming at him.
Interesting. Cohen said trump applied for tax reductions. Theses applications in Florida would be public record.
