There is a real and present danger of violence when he is removed from office. I saw where Mr Pillow, Mike Lindell, told the CPAC convention that Rumpf is the greatest president since he was chosen by God. It is easy to imagine fascist Christians taking up arms in response to the removal of their GodSent hero.

(9,895 posts)Anyone who ACTS on those beliefs is a danger to themself and others, and should be involuntarily committed to a mental institution and be treated to electroshock therapy and end up drooling on themself in the corner of a sanitarium.
I have no personal use for any religion, but I take great personal offense at the hypocrisy of these bible beating asshats.

(12,344 posts)Many are armed and dangerous. We can't put them in mental institutions. It's a problem that has occured elsewhere and led to authoritarian governments. It could happen here.

(24,002 posts)...the hell out of me. How convenient it must be not to have to think for yourself, make any difficult decisions, and just leave everything to an unproven supreme being.
If everything is god's will, then didn't god also want Barack Obama to be president? Or did god take 8 years off of running the US government? And if Trump is not re-elected, would that not also be god's will?
(Not using upper case G quite on purpose.)

(100,079 posts)They are convinced that Chump was chosen by GAWD, and they won't let any other line of thinking slide. They think God only works for them during republican administrations. We are fucked.

What really scares me is that there are so many guns out there that random shooters could rise up anywhere and cause horrific problems.

(5,810 posts)But then there is a lot about Christianity that I dont get and I was raised Christian. They can take anything it says in their holy book and twist it to mean whatever they want it to say, Or they can gaslight their flock to believe it when they say black is white and up is down. So there is that.....

If Trump was chosen through some divine mechanism, somethings radically screwed up in the spirit world. If one were to apply the grossly infantile simplicity of an end-times believer, #45 (by his deeds and the company he keeps) is really a better fit to play the guy marked with 666.

And, yet, here we are.

(7,809 posts)It can't take criticism. It requires constant reassurance of love and blind devotion. It needs defending from powerless humans. It is very poor at expressing what it wants, needs, and expects from us. It's a mass murderer (just check out the old testament). It punishes the good and rewards the wicked here on Earth.
A deity worth that description could come up with a better leader than the criminal currently inhabiting the Oval Office.

It always seemed odd to me that a being as superior as god is supposed to be would need adulation from puny little humans.

(8,419 posts)The reason they come across as a cult is.....because they are a cult. Strength in numbers with an authoritarian leader who shares their hate of others, a need to constantly reinforce their beliefs. (Fox News and Hate Radio)
Blacks, Gays, Mexicans, Muslims, Jews, Atheists, Liberals, others, they are the problem, if not for those people everything would be fine.
Anyone who thinks they can be changed is straight out delusional.

(50,559 posts)If there was a God, and this God was in the business of picking Republican presidents, Donald Trump is the last man on earth he would have chosen. Instead, Trump is the kind of guy who would have put God back in the smiting business.
He wouldnt have picked Dubya Bush, either.
I believe that if God would have picked a Republican President, wed be talking about the stupid, moderately corrupt but very religiously faithful President Rick Santorum.
OTOH, if you want to see what kind of a president a just and loving god would have chosen, forget all the Republicans and look at Barack Obama.

(7,939 posts)President told Palestinians God also talked to him about Middle East peace
George Bush has claimed he was on a mission from God when he launched the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, according to a senior Palestinian politician in an interview to be broadcast by the BBC later this month.
Mr Bush revealed the extent of his religious fervour when he met a Palestinian delegation during the Israeli-Palestinian summit at the Egpytian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, four months after the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003.
One of the delegates, Nabil Shaath, who was Palestinian foreign minister at the time, said: "President Bush said to all of us: 'I am driven with a mission from God'. God would tell me, 'George go and fight these terrorists in Afghanistan'. And I did. And then God would tell me 'George, go and end the tyranny in Iraq'. And I did."

Mr Bush went on: "And now, again, I feel God's words coming to me, 'Go get the Palestinians their state and get the Israelis their security, and get peace in the Middle East'. And, by God, I'm gonna do it."
Mr Bush, who became a born-again Christian at 40, is one of the most overtly religious leaders to occupy the White House, a fact which brings him much support in middle America.
