Meow-velous! Kitten swiped from Bronx bodega returned to owners

New York Daily News

Curiosity nabbed the cat — and a guilty customer brought it back.

A shame-faced patron of a Bronx bodega returned its beloved kitten Luna Thursday — days after he’d casually walked out of the store with the fur ball tucked under his arm, leaving the owner’s 10-year-old autistic son heartbroken.

Following days of a social media outcry and an NYPD hunt for Luna, 29-year-old Stanley Duran first sent a buddy into Ismael Gourmet Deli on Thursday, the store’s owner said.

“The kid sent a friend to walk in with the cat,” Ismael Diaz told the Daily News. “He said, ‘This is Luna. My friend took it. He’s sorry.’”

A few minutes later, Duran, a resident of Fox St. in Longwood, entered the store to personally apologize — and was arrested on petit larceny charges.
