I live in Florida. My congressman is Greg Steube (R). My Senators are Rick Scott (R) and Marco Rubio (R). I write and call their offices, begging for them to stop with the showmanship and to please start governing for the people again. I have done it on a regular basis. I only get form letter responses acknowledging receipt of my letters, if I received anything at all. I have received 1 acknowledgement from Steube, 3 acknowledgements from Rubio, and no acknowledgements from Scott. You can't even reach Scott's office on the phone yet.
I am fearful of continuing to contact their offices as the way things are, they may press charges of harassment against me for contacting them. Is anyone getting any responses from their elected representatives? I used to get replies and position statements from Bill Nelson when he was in office. I don't know if it's because I'm a registered (D) that they just don't bother or what.
I've complained to the local papers, but they don't seem to care that our reps aren't responsive. Is this all we're supposed to do is vote every 2 years? It didn't used to be like this.
Do any of you have a responsive representative I can write to that might bring the issue to light that Republican reps are ignoring their constituents?

(401 posts)You listed them ... You just don't agree with their politics.
You were outvoted by your neighbors. I'm in the same boat here in WPB.
What can we do?
Keep writing respectful letters to them telling them what policies you do or don't support.
Show up and protest when appropriate.
Broach the sensitive topic of politics with friends and family - try to persuade them to support local democrats.
BTW, this is the same advice I'd give to republicans in deep blue states.
If we don't win elections, it doesn't matter how good or fair our polices are.
