McConnell praises Trump for ditching North Korea talks

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Thursday that President Trump "is to be commended" for walking away from failed denuclearization talks with North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un.

“High-level diplomacy can carry high-level risks, but the president is to be commended for walking away when it became clear insufficient progress had been made on denuclearization,” McConnell said Thursday on the Senate floor.

Trump abruptly left the talks held in Vietnam after negotiations stalled and Kim would not agree to sufficient denuclearization efforts. McConnell said it was “smart” to hold the talks in Vietnam, where Kim could witness the economic prosperity of the once-divided nation.

“Kim Jong Un now has a long train ride home, and he will have time to reflect on the future that is still within North Korea’s grasp," McConnell said. "But the president has demonstrated that such a future must be accompanied by real denuclearization.”

Probably Kim walked out on trump, and trump has mitch helping him make his lie more believable. Does anyone really think trump would walk out on kim , I don't.

This is the utter nonsense that the republicans have dreamt up as cover.

There is a washington post editorial by some clown named Henry Olsen who argues the same nonsense. It isn’t a loss for trump because he ultimately walked away. In fact that proves he is a winner.

What utter bullshit.

Trump didn’t lose anything because he had nothing at stake. He doesn’t give a rats ass about America. He only cares about the spotlight and the adulation of his craven followers. Mission accomplished.

Kim also got a spotlight, credibility with his people for scoring a second summit with the American president and an American president saying he had nothing to do with the murder of Otto Warmbier.

The American people are the losers in this latest episode of “Celebrity President”.
