Melania Trump to go on three-state 'Be Best' tour

First Lady Melania Trump is set to go on a three-state tour to promote her "Be Best" initiative.

Trump will travel to Oklahoma, Washington and Nevada on March 4 and 5 for the program that seeks to address well-being of children, social media use, and opioid abuse.

“Whether it is social media and technology or drug and alcohol abuse, children in our country and around the world are faced with many challenges,” Trump said in a press release.

“Through 'Be Best' I will continue to shine a spotlight on the well-being programs that provide children the tools and skills required for emotional, social and physical well-being and promote successful organizations, programs, and people who are helping children overcome some of the issues they face while growing up in the modern world.”

Trump unveiled the campaign last year. She billed her first major solo trip to Africa last October as a "Be Best" tour.

“Near Seattle” to talk about online safety for kids. I’m figuring Microsoft, which for the uninformed is in Redmond, outside Seattle.

I can’t imagine people would be thrilled but doubt anyone will bother with her. It wouldn’t, you know, be best.

Drug Overdose Deaths

70,237 drug overdose deaths occurred in the United States in 2017. The age-adjusted rate of overdose deaths increased significantly by 9.6% from 2016 (19.8 per 100,000) to 2017 (21.7 per 100,000). Opioids—mainly synthetic opioids (other than methadone)—are currently the main driver of drug overdose deaths. Opioids were involved in 47,600 overdose deaths in 2017 (67.8% of all drug overdose deaths).

In 2017, the states with the highest rates of death due to drug overdose were West Virginia (57.8 per 100,000), Ohio (46.3 per 100,000), Pennsylvania (44.3 per 100,000), the District of Columbia (44.0 per 100,000), and Kentucky (37.2 per 100,000).

States with statistically significant increases in drug overdose death rates from 2016 to 2017 included Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Must be some good shopping in Oklahoma, Washington, and Nevada.
