Cohen lawyer slams Trump over 'perjury' tweetstorm: 'POTUS has yet lied again'
Lanny Davis, an attorney for Michael Cohen, blasted President Trump Friday over a series of tweets suggesting Cohen committed perjury in front of Congress regarding a possible book deal.
"Sometime in early 2018, Mr. Cohen was offered a substantial advance for a proposal regarding a book on understanding Donald Trump. Mr. Cohen ultimately elected not to proceed. In other words, POTUS has yet lied again...but what's the difference between 9000 or 9001 lies?" Davis said in a statement.
The rebuke comes after a Friday morning tweetstorm in which Trump suggested Cohen, one of his former personal lawyers, wrote a book proposal painting the president in a much better light than he portrayed in a congressional hearing Wednesday.
The president berated Cohen after the Daily Mail resurfaced reporting saying that Cohen had proposed a book titled "Trump Revolution: From The Tower to The White House, Understanding Donald J. Trump," which cast Trump in a good light.
Cohen also testified in front of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Wednesday to excoriate the president as a "racist" and "con man" who he claimed was engaged in several financial crimes and aware of Roger Stone's efforts to coordinate with WikiLeaks about an embarrassing dump of Democratic documents.
