Impeached so he doesn't receive a pension and have Secret Service protection for him or Melania. The latter would probably require the Senate to revoke it as part of the punishment.

But Pence will pardon him for his federal crimes.
So maybe will have to settle for New York State Penitentiary.

(42,768 posts)He knows too much about defense and intelligence matters on the highest level. He should be held incommunicado due to his elevated risk. But GOP intervention and RW SC rulings could change all that.

(4,066 posts)I don't want the GOP or any of his supporters to be able to claim we should use that title with him after he's out of office the way it is always used with former Presidents. It's used out of respect and he deserves NONE.
THAT, with his ego, would be more painful to him than anything.

Let it also be noted that his opponent (HRC) won the popular vote.

What needs to be there as an example to others and as proof that our system works is the detail of his impeachment. Followed by the story of how he was indicted and went to jail.
I was in school when Nixon was impeached. I have no idea what history books say about him or how that is taught. I'm sure it's taught in a far too forgiving a manner though. That's the way it usually goes.

(34,661 posts)process this time around. We Dems allowed Nixon,Reagan and others to skirt the Legal Process against the Nation with out consequences.
Because of no consequences,we see this pattern of Political Misbehavior once every decade in some way shape or form.
Prison is a great detourant for anyone in the future thinking about using the White House as a stepping stone to their personal wealth enhancements.
