CNN) — More than a dozen people have been confirmed dead after a series of tornadoes touched down in Alabama and Georgia on Sunday afternoon.

Fourteen people have died in Lee County, Alabama, according to Sheriff Jay Jones. Among the dead are both children and adults, he said.

At least 12 of those deaths occurred in an area about 5 to 6 miles south of Opelika, Alabama, Jones said.

"We have a pretty significant area of damage," Jones told CNN's Ana Cabrera. He estimated a path of destruction about half a mile wide stretched several miles to the east from where the tornado touched down.

I saw the forecast this morning, and that the south-eastern swathe of Tornado Alley was in for a rough ride today. Never guessed it would be this bad.

A tornado caused heavy damage just south
of downtown Cairo, Georgia, said the city's
mayor, Booker Gainor. Dozens of homes and
several businesses were damaged or destroyed.
No reports of injuries or deaths, but several
people were reportedly trapped in their homes.

That's what Pat Robertson thinks about disasters, when they strike Democratic states. So it follows that that's why disasters hit Republican Trumper states.

(I don't really mean that I think it's God's retribution, of course. I'm being facetious.)

He and others like him are pure evil. They relish disaster striking their enemies. We are not like them. I hope that the death toll does not get worse.

she was really panicked about it, took a while to calm her down. Mother nature has been really raising some hell since last summer & I'm thinking this spring & summer is going to be nasty throughout the country.
