A video circulating on social media on Monday appeared to show high school students in Alabama making racist and anti-Semitic remarks.

The video was posted to Twitter Sunday night by Malorie Moore.

“[S]o this is how students at @SpainPark High School in Hoover, Alabama act?” she asked. It was not immediately clear when the video was created.

“Without the Holocaust, what would the world be like?” one partier says in the video. “Jews would run the world.”

It happened at a party in Newport Beach last week - a bunch of high school students were photographed at a party throwing up the Nazi salute around a swastika made from Solo cups. And their group text messages said things like "fuck Jews".

What the fuck is going on???

Ultimately it will backfire. Right now, they are encouraged by Trump's continual ranting about the "survival of Western Culture". Right wing racists tend to have a cycle of about 50 years where they become very vocal and then there comes a period where they are driven back into the darkness from which they came.

I think that the actual number of overtly racist people is shrinking, but they are able to amplify their voices much more easily these days. Back in the day, there had to be an actual crime, that was reported and documented, to actually see that level of racism. Now, with everyone having a camera and access to the internet, they out themselves, or are caught by people who happen to be in the vicinity.

Trump's constant drum beat against "PC culture" and trying to highlight racially charged issues with White Supremacist language has given these people support that they have not had recently. Also, kids can be really stupid and impulsive so they are likely to get caught doing stupid shit like in the video and the picture from Southern California.
