the FBI building was built. It kinda boggles my mind that was long ago enough that it's in such bad shape now, and it's revolting that GSA keeps covering for Trump's criminality!

Because McConnell blocked as many federal judge appointments from Obama as he could in the last 6 years of Obama's presidency, and because McConnell is ramming through every Trump judicial nominee regardless of how grossly unqualified they are, Trump will have filled 40% of ALL federal judgeships by the end of his term.

AND because Trump literally just nominates whoever the Federalist Society tells him to without knowing ANYTHING about them, the federal judiciary will now be in a position to mold the US into whatever that cohort of privileged, wealthy right-wing reactionaries want it to be, regardless of who Americans vote for, regardless of what laws that popularly elected Congress passes, regardless of how the popularly elected POTUS attempts to enact said laws... and for this, the right wingers -- who know they are speeding towards minority status and cannot hold onto their position of control through democratic means -- will put up with anything.

There's nothing in the Constitution that dictates the exact shape and scope of the judiciary. So it can be changed, with new laws--including the number of Justices.
