I'd like your opinion of a new voting system being voted on in Georgia.

There have been millions of complaints about the Ga. voting machines over the last 17 years, with the most coming from the 2018 elections, so our legislators reviewed a number of new systems. They chose one and are voting on adopting it now.

In today's Atlanta paper they reported this:

https://www.ajc.com/news/state--regional-govt--politics/bill-for-new-georgia-voting-machines-clears-senate-committee/au9H9ftivrRUSRS9BMZjWI/?utm_source=newspaper&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=7546504&ecmp=newspaper_email&

The legislation now ensures that voters will be able to review their printed ballots before they’re counted and requires audits of election results to be in place in time for the November 2020 presidential election.

The voting machine bill has moved quickly through the legislative process after a commission created by Republican Gov. Brian Kemp recommended in January that the state use a touchscreen-and-paper voting system, called ballot-marking devices.

I looked up an explanation of how they operate. Here's the link I used:

https://www.verifiedvoting.org/ballot-marking-devices/

Ballot Marking Devices (BMD), also called Electronic Ballot Markers, provide an interface to assist voters in marking a paper ballot, which is then scanned or counted manually. Most voters are able to mark paper ballots with a pen or pencil, but not everyone can do so. BMDs are special-purpose computers that allow voters to mark a paper ballot via a user interface, such as a touchscreen, plus optional accessibility features (e.g. tactile keyboard, headphone jack, and other assistive devices) similar to those available on Direct Recording Electronic (DRE) voting devices. The BMD produces either a paper ballot identical to the ballot marked by voters with a pen or pencil or a summary of the voter’s selections. In either case, the paper output is separately tabulated, by hand or with an optical scanner.

I do think this is an improvement over what we currently use, but I's lik to hear what you think.

The BMD site lists these States that currently use BMD machines.

States Using BMDs Statewide
Alabama, Connecticut, District of Colombia, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, and Virginia.

What do you think?

I’d be more worried about the white wingers overseeing system in Georgia.

good programmer could alter the vote totals, and the other problem we had was some machines actually showed where a voter pushed the button for a Dem but when they went back to double check their ballot, it showed their vote went to the Pub!
