https://thehill.com/homenews/house/432968-new-cracks-emerge-in-dem-unityClyburn came to Omars defense Wednesday, lamenting that many of the media reports surrounding the recent controversy have omitted mentioning that Omar, who was born in Somalia, had to flee the country to escape violence and spent four years in a Kenyan refugee camp before coming to the United States.
Her experience, Clyburn argued, is much more empirical and powerful than that of people who are generations removed from the Holocaust, Japanese internment camps during World War II and the other violent episodes that have marked history.
That was an INCREDIBLY stupid thing to say and only made the situation worse.

(7,888 posts)This has nothing to do with Dem unity, or should not. I do not approve of Omar's comments that created the fru fru. Clyburn discounts the experience of individuals and their families who suffered or still suffer due to anti-semitic bias.
This stupid episode will allow rump and his pals to stay out of the news cycle while we shoot ourselves in the foot.
Enough all ready, let's stop being INCREDIBLY stupid. Move on, please.

(26,060 posts)Because the right wing isn't going to ignore it at all and frankly, if the Dems can't seem to walk and chew gum at the same time, I wouldn't blame them for taking advantage.
