Latest with Manafort made up my mind

Last edited Sun Mar 10, 2019, 03:48 PM - Edit history (1)

Absolutely nothing is going to come of any of this.
People will get a couple months here or there and Congress will investigate and talk a lot and issue sternly worded tweets but nothing else.

The report, which I still believe will never see the light of day, will say trump did a lot of bad things but everyone will shrug and move on. We already know he has done a lot of illegal and awful things and no one really gives a shit.

The wealthy dont go to jail. Poor people don't get to negotiate a day we are willing to report for court or jail.

This is our world. People care a little but then the next shiny object gets flashed around or the new season of Bachelor starts and they stop caring. It's just the way of the world now.

Th ballot box is more powerful than any weapon. When the voice of the people is not restricted it can be the most powerful voice for damnation and humiliation of the demagogues and their message of hatred and division. It is the bedrock principle the founders of our nation bestowed on us and our legacy.

It's just an honest, admittedly stark and frank, understanding of the world.
The examples of a justice system titled in favor of the wealthy and powerful are to numerous to mention.

An economic model titled in favor of the wealthy and powerful is also a simple matter of fact, not perspective.

We had audio and video of trump talking about sexually assaulting women but he still got elected.

Stories about trump and Epstein. His many Interviews with Howard stern and trump talking about being a Vietnam era sex hero and telling stern it was ok to call his own daughter a piece of ass. All in the public record. No one cared.

It's not dark, just matter of fact.

...what you mean. It will all be glossed over. Just like when no bankster went to jail for collapsing the world financially in 2008 and came out of it rich and free as ever.

But I do take solace in the rise of people like OAC and a more progressive Democratic Party managing to eke out some good for the country as a whole.

No WAY is this what every soldier in Arlington died for. I'm not living the rest of my life in a system like this and you should focus your outrage on how we are going to get a little smarter and madder than the people who support trump. You know....the dipshits in red hats. THOSE guys.
I remember 1968. It was ugly. It's about to get ugly again. If you don't have the stomach for it...please...don't surrender the rest of us. I have a family and friends and folks who have SACRIFICED for this country aint NO way this is going to be the new norm. Better get with some local folks who are like you and start making some plans.
Plan for the worst, hope for the best. Folding up isn't an option. That's what they're hoping for.
If we could harness keystrokes and convert them to marching steps...we'd be in the streets all over America. No russians taking out my country. Better dead than hand over this blessed land to thieves.

Probably one to one when all the ditherers back off. Personally, I think I'm good for a few traitors if they keep this shit up. My heart belongs to America. I didn't work paying taxes to fork over my life to some gulag bc of don trump. My kids aren't going to grow old in anything less than what we/I was given as a bequeathment in my glorious country. We need to let this anger temper us. Hopefully there's a reason for what has happened w manafort. I walk through the valley unafraid. We can sacrifice this guy, but, not our birthright. But, that's just me. And today I'm piping mad.

I think you are right. Nothing else will come of all of this no matter how many investigations are conducted. On his way out the door Trump will pardon everyone, including himself, and we will litigate that for the next 10 years with no result coming from that either until Trump is long gone from this world.

Mueller is expected to ask that this sentence be consecutive.

Vance in NY says he will prosecute whether or not Trump pardons.

Mueller hasn’t started prosecuting him for collusion, and we know Manafort gave Kilimnik detailed polling data. So this is far from over.

Their strategy is to ride out the storm of everything else no matter how bad and all or almost all of the traitorous Republicans will be on board and echoing the talking point which is over and over again ... "No Collusion!"

There was definitely collusion and probably also open treason but they will continue to say "No Collusion" even in the face of all but the most smoking of smoking guns. That way they will shield their president and their plutocratic agenda. The other crimes would have easily gotten Richard Nixon impeached but not the Orange monster.

The current treasonous Republican party is not your grandfather's republican party. They, at least, cared about the rule of law and were loyal to the concept of American democracy. This generation of republicans will shield a treasonous president and they don't care at all about American democracy.

The ONLY SOLUTION is to VOTE ALL OF THE TREASONOUS BASTARDS OUT IN 2020!

"In Birmingham they love the Gov'nor, (Wallace) boo boo, boo/
Now we all did what we could do/
Now Watergate does not bother me/
Does your conscience bother you?/ Tell the truth"

The Red State appetite for looking the other way if they share their racist attitudes. And no regret or guilt.. It started a long time ago. This song came out in 1974. Since then, LS has said it was a bit of a joke of a song, but I still think there was truth behind the words.

I always used to think it was a dumb response to Neil Young's critical "Southern Man" and "Alabama". Because they basically admit they are backwards racists, and their excuse is that people can bury their morals and ethics and look the other way, so why not? Its not bad if you don't feel guilty enough. Or if it benefits you. This attitude seems like it was established a long time ago in the south. Leftover resentment from the big bad Washington government taking away their slaves?

Manafort was given prison time, and he faces additional sentencing from a different judge. It is unlikely Mueller's report will be kept entirely secret because Democrats have a majority in the House. Buck up, all is not yet lost.
