There are plenty of reasons for not tossing him in the slammer, although it would be gratifying for us. But Judge Jackson is playing a long game; she doesn't want Stone to have an excuse for demanding her recusal or a way of setting up for an appeal on the ground that he was deprived of his First Amendment rights or of his ability to prepare for his trial. The justice system will definitely not collapse if Roger Stone isn't sent to jail. The fact that Manafort was given a relatively light sentence by a single eccentric old crank of a judge is also meaningless in the scheme of things.
