I see. "...a life otherwise free from consequences" would have been a more accurate way to say it. lagomorph777 Mar 2019 #15

I do it too. I hope that "T.S." in Ellis' name does not stand for "Thomas Stearns" but something more appropriate like "Totalitarian Sympathizer" or "Thorough Shithead".

Cheers

And except for a World War and the Holocaust, Adolph Hitler lived an otherwise blameless life. He had been been a good friend to others, a generous person.

Acting out for the cameras just a bit probably, but the outrage was real. He of course knows Manafort has long been known as part of a "torture lobby" because of his specialty in counseling and lobbying for murderous dictators most lobbyists wouldn't touch. Manafort was accused by one of our Democratic senators of prolonging an incredibly vicious rebel leader's atrocities in Angola. Too good at his job.

The responses to the tweet are pretty good. Many are putting their own spin on David Corn's Capone tweet.

Judge Ellis to Henry VII - "Except for a few marital mishaps, you've led an otherwise blameless life"

Judge Ellis to Tywin Lannister - "Except for a few wedding planning snafus, you've led an otherwise blameless life."

(If you didn't know, Tywin Lannister is a character from Game of Thrones who planned the infamous Red Wedding and then had his grandson victimized at the Purple Wedding)
