He was already Trump's campaign adviser when he was the WH comm director; now it's just official.

it's a functional position. It may not even be a paid position.

Advisers don't run communications, they don't manage staff, they just get in front of cameras and spin when needed.

Someone knifed him.

Of course, there really isn't a campaign yet. There is just a fund raising apparatus. Trump sees that as his money, and will try to run the campaign with pac money he can't get his hands on.
