So no, there wont be any Fucking apologies forthcoming on this end because there are no apologies warranted here.

You think Obama's policy was better than Trump's? That would be the relevant question.
As for the continuation of the drone program, even Sanders said he would continue it.

If you're going to suggest that others step out of their bubbles, you might want to do the same. "Both sides" is bullshit, regardless of the source. Always has been.

(16,192 posts)I know people like this. When I was in college 35 years ago, I was somewhat similar in saying that they all do it. Drives me crazy now because I realize we can elect the very best people like PBO and it only undermines them to criticize them that way. Old enough to know that everyone in the system has limited power to change it, from the president on down.
But those naive, virulent idealists love to extend the isms to everything. So sure of themselves as better than everyone.

Democrats didnt abandon Omar over her comments about Israel. Her criticism of Barack Obama is another matter.
Omar says the hope and change offered by Barack Obama was a mirage. Recalling the caging of kids at the U.S.-Mexico border and the droning of countries around the world on Obamas watch, she argues that the Democratic president operated within the same fundamentally broken framework as his Republican successor.
We cant be only upset with Trump . . . His policies are bad, but many of the people who came before him also had really bad policies. They just were more polished than he was,
Omar says. And thats not what we should be looking for anymore. We dont want anybody to get away with murder because they are polished. We want to recognize the actual policies that are behind the pretty face and the smile.

(58,785 posts)Turns out she was being misunderstood before she ran for congress. There's a pattern here.
So her district elected someone whose statements occasionally smell of antisemitism? Not great, but she represents the people who elected her, not the Democratic Party as a whole. Except when she punches the Republicans in the nose for the right reasons, or something close to.
But she's far left (and possibly right, tbd), and I think we should get used to her also being a nuisance for the Democratic mainstream and not wig out every time it happens. The press are now clustered around her, eager for each new controversial pearl from her photogenic lips, and she's apparently eager to meet her destiny.
Meanwhile, as always, the real problem is on the right, and it's huge. Muslims and Jews killing each other is seen as foreordained by most. Some loathe both and delight. Most don't care that much but are 100% behind Jews holding a state in the Middle East for Christians to eventually take over. And that's what this is really about. Religious wars, potentially planetwide rivers of blood, over whose god gets what if sensible people don't get a leash on these types.

(42,862 posts)I'm sick of the divisive lies. It's simply NOT TRUE that the Democrats are "the party of the elite". It's a LIE to claim that the Democrats are the "party for the one percent".
All I'm saying is that the lies only serve to divide and weaken the Democratic party... and a weakened Democratic party only serves to benefit the GOP, and Trump, and RUSSIA!

(401 posts)on top of being naive and ill-informed.
So which one of the following options she would have chosen?
1. Let the terrorists roam free, unhindered, and attack our troops and our allied people at every opportunity.
2. Do a massive ground operation with full air support and kill thousands of civilians and a few hundred Americans to kill a handful of terrorists.
3. Use targeted drones which were 98% effective and killed only a few civilians without risking American lives.
She wants Option 1 because it is a culture of peace in a land of milk and honey and nice people all around.

"After many took Omar's comments as a harsh critique of Obama, who remains widely popular across the Democratic Party, she took to Twitter to clarify the comments, writing, "I'm an Obama fan! I was saying how Trump is different from Obama, and why we should focus on policy not politics."
In a March 2018 Quinnpiac Poll 49 percent of Democrats ranked Obama as the best president the United States has had since World War II."
https://abc13.com/rep-ilhan-omar-says-her-criticism-of-president-obama-was-distorted/5178653/
Weird. Words Matter and she can say "I'm an Obama fan" but it doesn't compute with why she would say those ugly untrue things about him.
It sounded very personal.

(58,785 posts)wordy padding of rhetoric that actually reinforces it. Republicans atrocities are "just more polished" than Obama's and others "who came before" Trump and this Republican congress?
That's not just extremism talking, it's stupid and dishonest.
